Local Football

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced that a moment of silence will be observed at Betway Premiership and Motsepe Foundation Championship fixtures in honour of victims of femicide and violent killings across South Africa.

The tribute will begin with tonight’s fixtures and continue throughout the weekend, giving players, technical teams, match officials and supporters an opportunity to remember those who have lost their lives to violence and stand in solidarity with their families and loved ones.

PSL Joins National Mourning

The announcement comes as South Africa continues to grapple with the devastating impact of gender-based violence, femicide and violent crime.

In its official communication, the PSL extended its condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives during this difficult period. The League also expressed its sadness over both reported and unreported incidents of violent crime.
