The stage is set for another major MTN8 showdown between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, but one important question remains unanswered: where will the 2026 MTN8 final be played?
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that the venue draw for the 2026 MTN8 final will take place tonight, Monday, 28 September 2026, at 20:00.
The draw will be broadcast live on SuperSport PSL, Channel 202, giving supporters the opportunity to find out which venue will host the highly anticipated final.
Pirates and Sundowns Set for MTN8 Final
Orlando Pirates booked their place in the final after defeating Sekhukhune United over two legs in the semi-finals.
The Buccaneers won the first leg 1-0 before completing a 3-0 victory in the return fixture, securing a 4-0 aggregate triumph. The result also saw Pirates become the first club to reach the MTN8 final in five consecutive seasons.
Mamelodi Sundowns, meanwhile, secured their place in the final after overcoming Golden Arrows in a dramatic semi-final.
Golden Arrows won the opening encounter 1-0, but Sundowns responded with a 3-2 victory in the second leg to progress on the away-goals rule after the tie finished 3-3 on aggregate.
Venue to Be Revealed
The two South African football giants will now meet in the MTN8 final on Saturday, 10 October 2026, with the venue still to be determined.
Tonight’s draw will settle that outstanding detail and officially establish the venue for the 2026 MTN8 showpiece.
The fixture carries additional history, with Pirates and Sundowns having previously met in the MTN8 final in 2023. Pirates eventually lifted the trophy after a goalless 120 minutes was followed by a 3-1 victory in the penalty shootout.
Pirates Chasing More MTN8 History
Pirates enter the final as the defending champions and are attempting to extend an extraordinary run in the competition.
The Buccaneers have won the MTN8 in each of the last four seasons, beginning with their 2022 triumph over AmaZulu. They subsequently defeated Sundowns in the 2023 final before beating Stellenbosch FC in consecutive finals in 2024 and 2025.
Sundowns, meanwhile, will be looking to add another MTN8 title to their honours list, having last won the competition in 2021.
