Betway Premiership

After weeks of anticipation, the wait is finally over. The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has officially confirmed Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, as the venue for the highly anticipated 2026 MTN8 Final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The final is scheduled for Saturday, 10 October 2026, with kick-off set for 18h00.

The PSL confirmed the venue and ticketing arrangements in a media release issued on Monday, 28 September 2026, giving supporters clarity on where and how they can attend one of the biggest fixtures of the early 2026/27 domestic football season.

Pirates and Sundowns set for MTN8 showdown

The 2026 MTN8 Final brings together two of South Africa’s most prominent clubs.

Orlando Pirates booked their place in the final after eliminating Sekhukhune United 4-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals. The Buccaneers won the first leg 1-0 before completing the job with a 3-0 victory in the second leg.

Mamelodi Sundowns, meanwhile, secured their final place after overcoming Lamontville Golden Arrows in a dramatic semi-final. Sundowns won the second leg 3-2, progressing on the away-goals rule after the tie finished 3-3 on aggregate.

The final therefore sets up another meeting between Pirates and Sundowns in the MTN8, with the two clubs having already established a notable history in the competition.

Moses Mabhida Stadium to host the showpiece

The decision to stage the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium brings the MTN8 showpiece back to one of South Africa’s best-known football venues.

The Durban stadium has hosted major domestic and international football matches, including previous MTN8 finals. The 2023 MTN8 Final between Pirates and Sundowns was also played at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

For supporters, the announcement ends the uncertainty surrounding the location of the 2026 final and allows fans to begin making their travel and matchday arrangements.
