Mamelodi Sundowns Seal Deadline-Day Signing of AmaZulu Defender Wandile Dube

Transfer News

Mamelodi Sundowns have completed their deadline-day transfer business with the signing of highly rated AmaZulu defender Wandile Dube.

The 22-year-old left-footed defender has joined the Brazilians from AmaZulu after Sundowns moved swiftly to secure his services before the close of the 2026/27 Premier Soccer League transfer window.

Sundowns officially announced Dube’s arrival on Tuesday, welcoming the young defender to the club and bringing an end to speculation surrounding his future.

Sundowns Beat Competition for Dube

Dube had attracted interest from Orlando Pirates, but Sundowns ultimately won the race for his signature.

The defender completed his medical in Johannesburg after the two clubs reached an agreement, allowing the transfer to be finalised before the deadline. Reports indicate that Dube has signed a three-year deal with the reigning African champions.

His arrival represents another strategic addition to a Sundowns squad preparing to compete across multiple competitions during the 2026/27 campaign.

A Versatile Defensive Addition

Dube is a naturally left-footed centre-back who can also operate at left-back, giving head coach Miguel Cardoso another versatile option in defence.

The young defender developed through the AmaZulu academy and was promoted to the senior team ahead of the 2025/26 season following his performances in the club’s reserve setup. He made 10 senior appearances during that campaign as AmaZulu finished fourth in the Betway Premiership.

At Sundowns, Dube will compete for opportunities in a highly competitive defensive unit, with his ability to play on the left side potentially adding further balance to the squad.

Another Young Talent for Sundowns

The signing continues Sundowns’ strategy of adding promising young South African talent to an already experienced squad.

Dube joins a group of new arrivals that includes Antonio van Wyk, Siyanda Ndlovu, Thabang Matuludi, Cassius Mailula, Deano van Rooyen and Thabo Cele, while the club also made Katlego Ntsabeleng’s move permanent.

For Dube, the move marks another important step in his development after breaking into AmaZulu’s senior team.

Deadline-Day Deal Completed

With the transfer window now closed, Sundowns have successfully added another defensive option to their squad.

The club’s official announcement confirmed Dube’s arrival on Tuesday afternoon, with the young defender now set to begin the next chapter of his career at Chloorkop.
