Masandawana have entered a new era of greatness. Mamelodi Sundowns and technical partner PUMA have officially unveiled the club’s highly anticipated home kit for the 2026/27 season — a jersey that celebrates the past, embraces the present, and proudly displays a historic symbol of continental dominance.
The new home strip marks a landmark moment in the club’s history as it becomes the first-ever Mamelodi Sundowns jersey to feature two stars above the iconic badge.
The second star represents the club’s latest CAF Champions League triumph, honouring another unforgettable campaign built on Sundowns’ trademark “shoeshine and piano” style of football and their relentless pursuit of excellence on the African continent.

Retro Heritage Meets Modern Innovation
The 2026/27 home kit pays tribute to one of the most memorable eras in Sundowns’ history, drawing inspiration from the iconic jersey featured on the cover of the first-ever edition of Kick Off magazine in February 1994.
Staying true to the club’s identity, the kit features the traditional yellow shirt, blue shorts, and white socks, while adding a modern touch through refined performance details.
The design includes subtle debossed vertical fabric patterns, striking red PUMA branding, and elegant green accents on the collar and sleeve trims — creating a perfect balance between nostalgia and contemporary football fashion.
PUMA’s launch campaign, titled “Shine on Masandawana,” celebrates the connection between generations by bringing together current stars Grant Kekana, Thapelo Morena, Malibongwe Khoza, and Kutlwano Letlhaku with club legends Daniel “Mambush” Mudau, Roger Feutmba, and Hlompho Kekana.
The campaign represents Sundowns’ journey from their historic roots to their position as one of Africa’s most successful football institutions.
Familiar Look, New Legacy: Supporters Share Their Views
Although the official inspiration behind the kit comes from the 1994 era, many supporters quickly noticed similarities between the new design and the club’s 2022/23 home jersey.

Fans highlighted the familiar clean yellow appearance, subtle vertical detailing, and modern collar design — elements that bring back memories of the dominant 2022/23 DStv Premiership-winning campaign.
However, the introduction of the second CAF Champions League star gives the 2026/27 edition a unique identity. It is not simply a recreation of the past, but a symbol of a club continuing to write new chapters in its history.
