Luka Modrić Joins AC Milan in Sensational Free Transfer Move

Transfer News

AC Milan have officially announced the signing of Croatian midfield maestro Luka Modrić, marking one of the most iconic transfers of the 2025/26 window. The 38-year-old leaves behind a legendary spell at Real Madrid and begins a new chapter with the Rossoneri.

Modrić signed a one-year contract with AC Milan that runs until June 2026, with an option to extend for another season. He will wear the iconic number 14 jersey, once donned by Milan legend Carlo Ancelotti, a fitting tribute as he steps into a leadership role within the squad.

The veteran playmaker arrived in Milan on July 14 to complete his medicals and was warmly welcomed by fans at the airport. He’s expected to officially join pre-season training in August under the guidance of new head coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Modrić’s arrival signals Milan’s serious intent to rebuild and compete again at the highest level. After a disappointing eighth-place finish in Serie A last season, missing out on European football, the club is undergoing a tactical and strategic reshuffle — and Modrić is set to be the heartbeat of that transformation.

A football legend in every sense, Modrić spent 13 glittering years at Real Madrid, winning 28 major trophies, including an incredible six UEFA Champions League titles. He also played a pivotal role in Croatia’s golden generation, leading them to a World Cup final in 2018 and a bronze medal in 2022.

His experience, composure, and unmatched vision will offer AC Milan a new dimension in midfield — both on and off the pitch.

As Milan look to return to European competitions, Modrić is expected to be central in restoring the club’s prestige and guiding a new generation of Rossoneri talent.
