Kaizer Chiefs have officially launched the 2025 edition of the Toyota Cup, announcing a highly anticipated pre-season clash against Asante Kotoko of Ghana. The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 26 July 2025, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
The announcement was made during a media event hosted at the club’s headquarters in Naturena on Thursday, 26 June 2025. This marks the second edition of the Toyota Cup and continues to build on Chiefs’ ambition to connect with other historic clubs across the African continent.
Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana’s most successful teams, will travel to South Africa as part of their preparations for the upcoming season.
“This game is about celebrating African football history and building connections across the continent,” said Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung.
The match will give fans an opportunity to enjoy a rare international club fixture on local soil, as two of Africa’s most storied teams meet in a special one-off encounter. The Toyota Cup aims to strengthen ties between African clubs while giving players valuable game time ahead of the new season.
