Marumo Gallants have ushered in a new chapter with the appointment of French tactician Lafitte Alexandre as the club’s new head coach. The 28-year-old arrives with growing credentials and an impressive record of success on the African continent.
Alexandre joins the South African outfit following a standout stint with Stade d’Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire, where he led the side to league glory and secured qualification for the CAF Champions League group stages during the 2023/24 campaign.
The coaching change comes after the departure of Abdeslam Ouaddou, who concluded his tenure with the club at the end of last season. Club president Abram Sello expressed confidence in the club’s new direction under Alexandre’s leadership.
“Coach Alexandre understands the long-term vision we have for Marumo Gallants. His arrival ahead of pre-season is important for building a strong foundation and ensuring the squad is aligned with our goals,” said Sello.
Alexandre is expected to land in South Africa within the next two weeks and will begin work with the squad as they prepare to report for pre-season training on 1 July 2025.
The club and its supporters will be hoping the young French coach can replicate his success and steer Gallants to new heights in the coming campaign.
