A Volley Worthy of the Spotlight
Leon’s winning goal came during Mamelodi Sundowns’ thrilling encounter against AmaZulu FC, where the forward produced a moment of pure individual brilliance.
With the ball dropping outside the penalty area, Leon showed exceptional composure and timing, striking a powerful first-time volley that flew beyond the goalkeeper and into the back of the net before the defence could react.
The combination of technique, power, and precision made the goal an instant contender for the monthly award, with supporters praising the strike as one of the finest finishes seen in the early stages of the campaign.
The goal also generated widespread excitement among fans, with clips of the spectacular effort quickly circulating across social media platforms.
Leon Beats Strong Competition
The Sundowns attacker faced stiff competition for the August prize, including teammate Teboho Mokoena, whose trademark free-kick showcased his set-piece mastery, and Siwelele forward Vincent Pule, who was also nominated for his outstanding effort.
However, Leon’s breathtaking volley ultimately stood above the rest, earning him recognition as the first Betway Premiership Goal of the Month winner of the new season.
