The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has officially confirmed the start dates for the eagerly anticipated 2025/26 season across all competitions. In a circular issued on 30 June 2025 and signed by Acting CEO Mato Madlala, the league outlined the schedule that will shape the South African football calendar for the next 12 months.

According to NSL Circular No. 124/2025, the new season officially begins on 1 July 2025 and will run until 30 June 2026.

Fans can look forward to the action getting underway with the MTN8 tournament, which is set to kick off on the weekend of 1 August 2025. The Betway Premiership — South Africa’s elite domestic league — will then resume regular fixtures starting 8 August 2025.

Meanwhile, the Motsepe Foundation Championship, the country’s second-tier professional league, will begin on 22 August 2025, giving newly promoted sides time to finalize squads and strategy.

Youth and development football will also return in full swing, as the DStv Diski Challenge is scheduled to commence on 6 September 2025, continuing its critical role in grooming the stars of tomorrow.

With dates now confirmed, clubs across all divisions have entered the final stretch of pre-season preparations, while fans across the country count down the days until the return of top-flight football.
