Nottingham Forest have officially parted ways with head coach Ange Postecoglou following a 3–0 home defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon.
In an official club statement released shortly after the match, Forest confirmed the Australian’s departure:
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.
The Club will make no further comment at this time.”
The loss to Chelsea proved to be the final straw for the Forest hierarchy after a dismal run of form that left the club hovering just above the Premier League relegation zone.
Chelsea’s goals came from Josh Acheampong, Pedro Neto, and Reece James, as the visitors dominated the second half to seal a comfortable 3–0 victory at the City Ground. Despite creating a few chances, Forest struggled to convert, extending their winless streak and deepening their crisis.
Postecoglou’s tenure ends just 40 days after his appointment in September 2025 making it one of the shortest managerial reigns in Premier League history. He was brought in to implement an attacking philosophy and push Forest toward European contention, but results and performances quickly fell below expectations.
Under club owner Evangelos Marinakis, Nottingham Forest have now changed managers multiple times in recent seasons, continuing a pattern of instability in the dugout.
The club is yet to announce an interim or permanent replacement, though an appointment is expected in the coming days as Forest look to turn their season around before it slips further out of control.
