Mamelodi Sundowns have officially confirmed the signing of highly-rated Bafana Bafana right-back Thabang Matuludi from Polokwane City.
The Tshwane giants have moved decisively to secure the services of one of the most exciting full-backs in South African football, fending off competition from other domestic clubs for his signature.
Matuludi arrives at Chloorkop after establishing himself as one of the standout defenders in the Betway Premiership, bringing with him top-flight experience, defensive reliability, and an attacking threat from the right flank.
A Journey Built on Determination and Consistency
Matuludi’s rise to the top has been defined by perseverance, hard work, and a relentless drive to succeed.
The defender began his football journey with amateur side The Dolphins before making the step up to professional football with Polokwane City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. He played a key role in helping “Rise and Shine” achieve promotion to the top flight, announcing himself as a dependable presence in the squad.
Since then, the 27-year-old has continued to grow in stature, becoming one of the most consistent right-backs in the league. His performances have been rewarded with national team recognition, earning a place in the Bafana Bafana setup as he continues to represent the country at the highest level.
Strengthening the Sundowns Machine
Renowned for his energy, defensive discipline, and ability to contribute in the final third, Matuludi fits the profile of a modern full-back and aligns with the playing philosophy at Mamelodi Sundowns.
His arrival adds further competition and depth to a squad already filled with quality, as Masandawana prepare for another demanding campaign across multiple competitions, including the Betway Premiership, domestic cup tournaments, and the CAF Champions League.
With his pace, work rate, and experience in South African football, Matuludi is expected to provide valuable options for the technical team while pushing for regular involvement in the famous yellow and blue colours.
As excitement builds at Chloorkop, Sundowns supporters will be eager to see their latest signing settle in quickly and make his mark at one of Africa’s biggest clubs.
