Borussia Dortmund secured a dramatic 4-3 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in a thrilling FIFA Club World Cup Group F encounter, showcasing end-to-end action and late drama in sweltering conditions.

Mamelodi Sundowns took an early lead through Lucas Ribeiro Costa in the 11th minute, silencing the Dortmund supporters and sending a strong message of intent. However, Dortmund responded swiftly, with Felix Nmecha capitalizing on a defensive error to equalize just five minutes later.

Dortmund began to dominate proceedings as Serhou Guirassy gave the German side the lead in the 34th minute. Jobe Bellingham, making his first start, added a third just before halftime, giving Dortmund a 3-1 cushion at the break.

Shortly after the restart, Sundowns’ woes deepened when defender Khuliso Mudau inadvertently scored an own goal while attempting to clear a dangerous cross, handing Dortmund a 4-1 lead.

Despite the setback, Sundowns mounted a spirited comeback. Iqraam Rayners pulled one back in the 72nd minute, and Lebo Mothiba added a third for the South African champions in the 88th minute, setting up a tense finish. However, Dortmund managed to hold on and claim a vital three points.

The result sees Borussia Dortmund move to the top of Group F with four points, while Mamelodi Sundowns remain in contention with three points and one group game remaining.
