Emam Ashour, Al Ahly’s influential midfielder, was forced to exit the opening match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup against Inter Miami due to a serious shoulder injury. The game, held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, ended in a 0–0 draw .

Ashour initially sustained the injury early in the first half but attempted to continue after receiving sideline treatment. However, he was unable to persist and left the pitch in tears in the 14th minute, visibly distressed by the severity of his condition. He was replaced by Ahmed Sayed (Zizo) .

Subsequent medical evaluations at a Miami hospital confirmed that Ashour had suffered a broken collarbone, ruling him out for the remainder of the tournament. This injury is particularly concerning given his history of shoulder issues, including a dislocated shoulder sustained during a 2024 match with the Egyptian national team, which required surgery .

Ashour has been a pivotal figure for both Al Ahly and the Egyptian national team, contributing significantly in terms of goals and assists. His absence is a substantial blow to Al Ahly’s aspirations in the Club World Cup .
